Accelerated Curriculum
Shared Notebooks
Students and teachers in accelerated classes begin the school year as sectioned users in one grade level but will eventually move up to a higher grade level. Students and teachers start out seeing the dashboard for their section at the original grade level, and can share Notebooks and annotations and take assessments within that section and grade level. They can optionally access the curriculum content of the higher grade level through the Unit Library, but cannot share Notebooks and annotations or take assessments that are in the higher grade level.
When they are ready to move on to the higher grade level curriculum and content, their profiles are updated by Pearson on request and their section is updated from the current grade level to the next higher grade level. At that point, they can see the same dashboard for the section, share Notebooks and annotations, and take assessments in the higher grade level (but not in the lower grade level). The teacher dashboard displays an indicator for the grade level content for each section, allowing them to determine when the grade level change is completed,
When the switch takes place and the student and teacher dashboards are updated to a higher grade, lower grade task and assessment Notebooks can no longer be viewed from the Work Browser in the app. However they can be viewed from the lower grade level lesson content (available through the Unit Library). Teachers can also access previously shared Notebook items from students through the notifications icon for Shared Work.
When a student shares a Notebook with his or her teacher or the teacher shares a Notebook with a student, the initial view is displayed in the Shared Work list.
Here is the dashboard with the notifications after moving to the next grade’s content.
When either a student or teacher clicks on the shared Notebook entry, the Tap to Download thumbnail is displayed.
After the grade change, if the teacher taps Go to Work Browser for any of the Notebooks shared previously, the teacher navigates to the Work Browser, but none of the Notebooks are displayed there.
If the Notebook is shared from the current grade and the user views from the same grade and taps Go To Work Browser, the Notebook displays on the Work Browser.
If the Notebook is shared from the current grade level and the user views from the same grade level and taps Go To Work Browser, the Notebook displays on the Work Browser before and after the grade level content change. If the Notebook is shared from a previous grade level and the user views from the new grade level and taps Go To Work Browser, the Notebook will not display on the Work Browser.

When attempting to view Notebooks from the previous grade level this can be accomplished by using the notifications from the students. When either a student or teacher clicks on the Notebook notification to select a specific Notebook entry and then selects "Tap to Download" the thumbnail is displayed and the Notebook entry can be downloaded for review.
If the teacher views the previously shared Notebook after the grade has been updated then the teacher must click Tap to Download to view the Notebook in Lesson View. This is the only way for a teacher to view a Notebook from a previous grade level.
