Disable Notebook Features

Auto-correction, spell-check, auto-capitalization, predictive text, and other similar keyboard features are available in the app’s Notebook by default. To turn these features off, reset the keyboard settings manually in each device .

iOS

Each device should be set up in device settings.

  1. Select Settings from the iPad Home screen.
  2. Select General.
  3. Select Keyboard.
  4. Turn off the following
    • Auto-Capitalization to off (white)
    • Auto-Correction to off (white)
    • Check Spelling to off (white)
    • Enable Caps Lock to off (white)

iOS: Disable Emoji Keyboard

To disable emojis on student devices:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to General > Keyboard, then tap Keyboards at the top. The number of keyboards installed displays.
  3. Tap Edit, then tap the red circle next to Emoji.
  4. Tap Delete.

Windows

Each device should be set up in device settings.

  1. To deactivate the auto-correct feature in Windows 8.1/10, press Windows Key + C.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. In the left pane, navigate to PC and devices -> Typing.
  4. In the right pane of this screen, turn Off or move the slider to left for options:
    • Autocorrect misspelled words
    • Highlight misspelled words

Chromebook

Each device should be set up in device settings.

  1. Open settings by clicking your profile photo in the bottom-right corner, then selecting Settings.
  2. Once the Settings window is open, scroll to the bottom and tap Show advanced settings.
  3. Scroll to the Languages section and tap Language and input settings.
  4. With the Language and input settings menu open, select English.
  5. With your language selected, under the Input setting header, tap Configure.
  6. Turn off auto correction.
