Download/Update Content on the K-1 App
The following shows downloading and updating content on the K-1 app.
The Pearson System of Courses K-1 app must have at least some downloaded unit content for students to begin instruction. This process can be accomplished by using an unsectioned (without class association) as well as sectioned user login. Start by tapping Teacher/Admin Login. Students can also download content, but initial login will require picture password setup.
Enter valid user name and password to log in.
Subject and Grade columns display according to content the district is entitled to access. In this example, there is Math only. By default, there is no preloaded content and at least one unit must be downloaded to start using the Pearson System of Courses app. Empty units appear gray. Kindergarten units display first, followed by Grade 1. Scroll down the list to see Grade 1 units.
Tap on any unit to begin content download. The color progress bar “Downloading…” will indicate completion rate.
Depending on the available network and Internet bandwidth, downloads may take 5 minutes or longer per Unit.
Note: The device must stay awake with the Pearson System of Courses app running in the foreground. The Pearson System of Courses app will automatically keep the device awake for the duration of the downloads, until completion.
While the content is downloading for the initial unit, tap other units to add them to the download queue. Those units will display “Waiting…”. The download priority is in reverse order of units tapped (last unit tapped will download next). Only one unit will download at a time.
Scroll down to display additional Kindergarten units, as well as Grade 1 units if they have been provided to your district. All units in the queue will continue to download, even while the user is actively using the app.
Completed units display in color.
Note: Downloaded content uses local storage on the device during and after the content download is complete. Content requires approximately 1 gigabyte (GB) per grade in Math (with all units loaded), and 6 GB per grade in ELA.
Tap the menu icon in the upper-left corner, and then select Settings in the lower-left corner to access the Settings page.
The downloaded units are displayed, with the newest content on top. If available, content updates will also display.
Content updates for the K-1 app are not automatic, and must be initiated by tapping Update Content in the upper- right corner.
