Review an Essay Assignment

After a student has submitted an adaptive essay or a custom essay assignment, you can review the student's text and score feedback for the essay.

Custom essay prompts, also referred to as untrained prompts, can provide an overall score, while trained essay prompts can provide scores based on six writing traits. See Trained and Untrained Essay Prompts for more information.

Click Classes on the top menu bar, and then click Assignments below the class name.
Select the essay assignment, and then click View Details.
Select the student you want to view, and then do one of the following:

For untrained essays:
1. Click the Review button.
2. Scroll through the panel to the left to review the student's essay text, and then click Overall Score to view the student's feedback summary.
For trained essays:
1. Click Show Essay Scores to review the scores for each of the six writing traits.
2. Click the Review button to open the essay assignment and view the student's essay text.

Click Exit to return to the list of students.
