Assessments Summary

The Assessments Summary displays visualizations of Momentum Assessment completions and performance. For each assessment visualization, select the horizontal bar chart to look at student-level data. You can also select the bar charts in Submissions by Schools or Diagnostic Performance by Grade visualizations to display student-level data.

In accordance with the intended use of Momentum Assessments, these visualizations report only on the first assessment submission per program per student in the school year. To access data from subsequent submissions, you can use the Momentum Diagnostic Assessment Details report.

Dashboard Charts

The following charts are available in the Assessments Summary summary:

  • Diagnostic Assessment Overview Charts: Review the total number of students who completed Momentum Diagnostic Assessments as well as the percentage of students who do not meet, are approaching, meet, or exceed course expectations. Select a segment of the chart to open the Student Details report to show student-level data for that segment.

  • Submissions by Schools: Review the number of students in each school who have been assigned each assessment and whether they have submitted it or not. You can view data according to the time of year by selecting the BOY (Beginning of Year), MOY (Middle of Year), and EOY (End of Year) buttons. Where applicable, use the options at the top to filter for a specific assessment, and sort by Not Submitted or Submitted to see which schools have the highest or lowest number of students in each status. Select a segment of the bar chart to open the Student Details report to show student-level data for that segment.

A tab called Performance Breakdown appears for the following chart, Diagnostic Performance by Grade. The Performance Breakdown tab lets you switch between the summary view and a view that lets you see how performance is distributed across the population.

  • Diagnostic Performance by Grade: Review students' average scores on the Momentum Diagnostic Assessments by grade. You can view data according to the time of year by selecting the BOY (Beginning of Year), MOY (Middle of Year), and EOY (End of Year) buttons. Color represents the performance-band classification for the average score. Select a bar chart to open the Student Details report to show student-level data for the students who contributed to that data point. Selecting the Performance Breakdown tab lets you see how student performance is distributed by grade without having to hover with your cursor to drill down into the results.

The length of the bar in relation to the Meets range (gray area) indicates if students' scores don't meet or are below, within, or above the Meets range for the diagnostic assessment.

When toggling between tabs, your existing filters and context are preserved.

Administrators with access to Momentum Diagnostic Assessments enhanced with Quantile or Lexile® measures can use the Measurement option in the filter area at the top of the summary to view the results in Quantile or Lexile measures rather than Momentum scale scores. When viewing results in Quantile or Lexile measures, Momentum performance bands are replaced by the national percentile rank indicated by the Quantile or Lexile measure. You can similarly view average Quantile and Lexile measures using the Performance Breakdown tab to understand the distribution of school-level performance under the selected measurement framework.

When looking at data for programs that have screener assessments or when looking at data from previous years, the Screener Performance by Grade visualization will appear.
