Use FTP Options

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a network protocol that is commonly used to transfer website data from your local computer to a remote web server. For Pearson System of Courses Administrative Reports, we will use the WinSCP FTP client to illustrate examples, but you can use any client you choose to log into your server with the same settings.

Your district information technology department should be consulted to learn the destination FTP URL and have them assign you a user name and password for the FTP server.

  1. In this example, we run a new Item Detail report and choose Run & Send with the Delivery option set to FTP Delivery to use this FTP method.
  2. Ensure you include the FTP URL, User Name, and Password. Also, check the Save FTP Settings for the system to remember your settings for future sessions.

    Run report FTP settings

  3. Once you are satisfied with your settings, click Send Now to send the report to the destination server. You'll get a message stating that the report results were submitted successfully.

    Success

  4. Once the report is done, you can locate the report output file on the FTP client.

Using a Web Browser as an FTP Client

You may also be able to use a browser such as Internet Explorer as your file transfer client if your FTP server supports this.

  1. In your browser, navigate to your district's FTP server. A dialog will prompt you for your User Name and Password. Then click Log on.

    Web client retrieve login

  2. Once the report is done, your report will be listed in your browser window and can be clicked to download or open.

    Web client retrieve report

These are merely suggestions. Your district may have different processes in place.
